On May 31, 2024, Professor Lingyun Xiang, an international expert in the field of emerging industries and a US-based economist, was appointed as the Financial and Economic Advisor of the Pluri-national State of Bolivia.
The Pluri-national State of Bolivia is located in the central part of South America, bordered by Brazil, Peru, Chile, Argentina, and Paraguay, encompassing a total area of 1.098 million square kilometers. The nation is endowed with abundant natural resources, including renowned mineral deposits. In addition to these mineral resources, Bolivia is home to well-known Incan Empire ruins. Furthermore, the country boasts the second-largest natural gas reserves in South America, surpassed only by Venezuela.
China and Bolivia established diplomatic relations in 1985 and formed a strategic partnership in 2018. Over the years, political mutual trust has steadily accumulated, practical cooperation has deepened, and cultural exchanges have gradually expanded. The two countries have maintained close coordination and collaboration in international affairs, leading to the continuous and stable development of their bilateral relations.
In recent years, trade between China and Bolivia has grown rapidly, with significant developments in economic and trade cooperation. The two countries have achieved substantial results in areas such as energy and minerals, infrastructure, and high technology. In 2023, the bilateral trade volume between China and Bolivia reached $2.596 billion, with China's exports totaling $1.134 billion and imports amounting to $1.462 billion. These figures represent year-on-year increases of 34.5%, 7.1%, and 67.7%, respectively. China remains Bolivia's second-largest global trading partner, the largest source of imports, and the seventh-largest export destination. China's primary exports to Bolivia include automobiles, motorcycles, tires, and high-tech products, while its main imports from Bolivia consist of mineral ores, leather, logs, and sawn timber.
